Some current favs at the top of our wish lists include P.E Nation, Ultracor and Heroine. And don't miss the top notch programming at "modern fitness studio" Studio B upstairs from the shop. 



Outdoor Voices

Doing Things Daily

Functional activewear Outdoor Voices needs little by way of introduction. Lena Dunham's a fan, Man Repeller's previously work-out resistant Leandra Medine has partnered with the brand and pretty much every Inside/Out community member owns at least one piece. The cuts are flattering for a variety of body types, the brand ethos is playful and the fabrics technical and performance-friendly. We especially like their OV kits and identifiable color ways. Game changer. 


ADAY Clothing


Technical Clothing for Every Day Life

More than a clothing line, ADAY's mission is to rethink and simplify the modern wardrobe, through the use of technologically advanced fabrics, season-less staples, versatile designs and sustainability. The young and dynamic team hails from brands like J.Crew, Everlane and Ikea. The collections are available online or by appointment in their Soho studio showroom.

Modern basics. Radical transparency. 

Everlane seeks out the best factories worldwide to develop relationships with the owners to ensure that integrity and workplace compliancy paperwork accompany the products that they create and distribute. A predominantly online distribution keeps costs down and full price transparency is revealed to customers. Their collections are tightly edited and rolled out conservatively, elimininating waste (but inducing wait lists). There is now a brick and mortar shop in Soho. Be sure to visit it next time you're in town.

Breathe easy, it's on us. 

Undeniably the pioneer of the luxury yoga gear movement, Lululemon now has a vast product offering that covers sports and activities from running to studio to swim with a strong focus on both women's and men's product lines. Also a purveyor of the athleisure movement - and the unfortunate rise of Wunder Unders at shopping centers and airports worldwide - Lulu also has more fashion forward line now, called the Lululemon Lab, located in a storefront in the heart of the Bond, Bleeker and Layfayette fitness axis.  Lululemon's Flatiron flagship is also home to HUB seventeen, a café, co-worker and studio space dedicated to community, events and workshops.

We have so much praise for this brand in terms of both product and messaging. 

Athleta proposes a wide range of products for sports and street at relatively reasonable prices; silhouettes intended to flatter and and suit different body types and all ages; and long lasting fabrics with an emphasis on both performance and sustainability. Plus an excellent roster of free classes in their community-oriented hubs (currently over100 stateside), including one in Soho and another in - you guessed it - the Flatiron.  

Honorable mention for GapFit and Old Navy, both also part of the Gap Inc. group.

CAP Beauty is all-natural beauty store and spa in the West Village, founded by Kerrilynn Pamer and Cindy DiPrima Morisse.

From Moon Juice to Vintner's Daughter, CAP's product range showcases the best brands and trends on the market, for treatments they worked with San Francisco-based holistic skincare expert Kristina Holey and their in-shop talks and workshops are a must.

The offspring of Emily Weiss' wildly successful blog IntoTheGloss.comGlossier is a beauty brand created by beauty editors to celebrates "real girls, in real life" through a steadily growing product line with an emphasis on skincare essentials and uncomplicated make-up staples.

Brooklyn Beauty

Shen is another great destination for natural and niche beauty, this time on Court Street in Brooklyn's Carroll Gardens neighborhood. 

Founded in 2010 by Jessica Richards, a California native and fashion stylist, this specialty beauty emporium boasts a wide selection of organic lines and exclusive imports. Shen also offers facials, makeup application, waking and brown shaping - providing an excellent way to sample products before purchase. 

Additionally, Richards is the senior beauty merchant for Free People, overseeing the brand's stellar buy of natural wellness products.

We also love Credo, Space NK (between boutique and Sephora) and Naturopathica for both treatments and products.

Rainbow Gathering

We were introduced to this discreet shop in Chinatown by upcoming Inside/Out New York Community member Ashleigh Hults. 

An occult cult destination, Magic Jewelry sells a wide selection of crystals and stones, but the true draw are their aura readings. 

For just $20 and about 10 minutes, Magic Jewelry staff will turn out a photograph using a process said to capture each person's natural electric field and then perform an interpretation accompanied by a cup of tea.


Pamela Love Inspiration


Modern Urban Mysticism

Although native New Yorker Pamela Love is yet to open a shop of her own, her conscious and cosmic designs are readily available city-wide, including her fine jewelry line at Barneys NY and a collaboration with Shinola at their Tribeca flagship. 

A deeply spiritual person, Love's cites astronomy, astrology, alchemy, botany and architecture among her inspirations.

Neither the sexiest nor the newest spot on our list, the Paragon superstore just north of Union Square is demurs nevertheless as a key destination for all things sports, athletic and wellness activities related. 

They also offer free fittings and tune ups on equipment and host free workouts, group hikes near the city, triathlon trainings and more.
